Saxópatas Big Band

Saxópatas Big Band was born in 1990, as a project of the saxophonist and musical director Marcelo Peralta. The special feature of this band is the replacement of trumpets and trombones (brasses) by saxophones (woods).

From the beginning, the band has performed many shows in the local jazz scene, has recorded two CDs: "Saxópatas big band" and "Huellas"(Footprints). A third CD including several Argentinean Rock standards, as well as other themes composed by members of the band, is currently under edition. The band had several musical directors, including Diego Ruiz and Omar Haddad. Nowadays, Cosme Tarantino leads the band. Saxópatas' repertoire includes standards of classic and modern jazz in their original versions, or arranged by prestigious musicians such as Lennie Niehaus, Don Sebesky, Sammy Nestico, Mark Taylor, among others. Original compositions by recognized local musicians are also included.
