La densidad cercana a 1 corresponde al líquido, la cercana a cero se debe al vapor La distribución de densidad es simétrica o asimétrica dependiendo de la temperatura. Este extraño fenómeno descubierto recientemente plantea varios interrogantes. Lo estudiamos en el marco de las funcionales de la densidad para distintos fluidos y sustratos.

En términos generales, me interesan los líquidos en condiciones inhomogéneas, que se caracterizan por una distribución espacial de las moléculas (o partículas) dependiente de la posición. El estudio de estos sistemas involucra las áreas de Mecánica Estadística de Líquidos y Termodinámica Estadística.
Integro un pequeño [[grupo de investigación]] dedicado al estudio de los líquidos simples. En estos sistemas el potencial de interacción entre partículas depende sólo de la distancia. Nuestro enfoque es teórico e involucra cálculo y simulación computacional del sistema. En algunos casos realizamos dinámica molecular, en colaboración con [[Claudio Pastorino|http://www.tandar.cnea.gov.ar/~pastorin]]. Actualmente trabajo en dos líneas bien diferenciadas:
