RESUMEN:
The Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University will be a world-leading laboratory
for the study of nuclear structure, reactions, and astrophysics. FRIB will be essential for gaining access to
key regions of the nuclear chart, where the measured nuclear properties will challenge established concepts.
Nuclear theory will play a critical role in providing the intellectual framework for the science at FRIB. The
long-term vision is to arrive at a comprehensive and unified description of nuclei and their reactions,
grounded in the interactions between the constituent nucleons. In this talk, advances in rare isotope
research will be reviewed in the context of the overarching scientific questions.
* Dr. en Física por el Institute for Nuclear Research, Varsovia, Polonia (1981) y Master Scientist and Engineer del Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics, Varsovia, Polonia. Su área de investigación principal es la Física Nuclear Teórica, y en particular temas de estructura nuclear. Es autor/editor de 7 libros, autor de 10 review papers/capítulos de libros, autor de aproximadamente 400 publicaciones científicas y 175 contribuciones en conferencias internacionales publicadas en sus respectivos proceedings, tiene un índice h=85 y más de 24.000 citas. Fue profesor visitante en varias universidades de Europa, Estados Unidos y Japón. Ha recibido más de 20 premios otorgados por Sociedades Científicas y Universidades principalmente de Europa y los Estados Unidos, ocupó el cargo de Director Científico de Facilidad Holifield de Iones Radioactivos del Oak Ridge National Laboratory (1999-2011) y actualmente es Profesor De Física y Científico Jefe del Dpto. de Física y Astronomía de la Facilidad para Haces Exóticos de la Universidad de Michigan (2014-) y Profesor en la Universidad de Varsovia (1991-).
