"Gas Adsorption on Carbon Nanotubes: The Effect of Molecular Size and Binding Energy on Equilibrium and Kinetic Properties"

RESUMEN:
We will present the results of adsorption isotherm experiments for Ar, Xe and CF4 on bundles of
carbon nanotubes. The isotherm results will be used to determine the degree of occupation of the
different sets of adsorption sites present on the bundles. The results will be compared to computer
simulations for these systems. Adsorption isostherm measurements allow the determination of the
isosteric heat of adsorption as a function of coverage. The isosteric heats of adsorption of the
various gases will be presented, and the results will be discussed in terms of molecular size. We
will also present experimental results regarding the adsorption kinetics for various gases on
nanotube bundles, and we will compare them with recent theoretical calculations.
