Curvature effects on the surface tension and thickness at the free interface of 4He systems

Abstract
The surface energy and the thickness of the interface at the free surface of superfluid
4He is studied. Results of calculations for cylindrical and spherical
systems carried out by using density functionals are reported. The obtained values for the width
are compared with available results for planar and spherical geometries and with experimental data.
It is found that for large species the surface thickness is independent of the geometry. The
behavior of the surface tension exhibits an overshoot similar to that found previously for the
central density.
